Abstract

|
The diagnosis of anemia involves many difficult problems because its clinical symptom manifests: itself insidiously and besides presents various underlying causes.
In the diagnosis of anemia, it is most important-and an easy approach-to conduct judicious appraisal of the patient´s history and skillful physical examination before tle basic blood studies are requested.
The authors discuss here major clinical manifestations and the indispensable methods in the laboratory diagnosis of anemia which are commonly seen in pediatric practice, as well as the classification of anemia in childhood.
